About SubZero

Orthopedic & Body Sculpting

SubZero Cryotherapy is a unique modality using cold pressured mist to promote the body's natural healing process. This treatment uses cryogenics at a targeted pressure allowing access to superficial and comprehensive layers of the body to advance deep healing. Different than a Cryotherapy Chamber, SubZero uses CO2 pressure rather than nitrogen fog allowing for more effective results in a shorter amount of time.
How it works: Cryotherapy causes "thermal shock" suddenly (and safely) decreasing body temperature to activate the body's healing response to remove toxins from the skin, boost healthy collagen fibers, and reduce fat through Cryolipolysis. With body contouring it terminates white fat cells (what stores fat), stimulating brown fat cells (what burns fat), the body then disperses of the white fat cells through the lymphatic system and immune system. Used for pain relief it ultimately helps reduce inflammation, aid in healing acute/chronic injury, and enhance muscle recovery and athletic performance!
Sessions consist of a 10 minute consult with 30 seconds- 3 minutes of treatment.

 The Science behind it:

The Subzero Cryotherapy device uses pressurized CO2 gas at -110oF to target a local area of the body and cause "thermal shock". The sudden decrease in temperature rapidly activates the body's healing responses via Four Principal Effects:

  • Vasomotor

    • Vasoconstriction during treatment causes local blood to leave the area carrying away inflammatory waste. Vasodilation immediately after treatment allows blood enriched with oxygen and nutrients to rush to the site.

  • Analgesic

    • Slows nerve signal transmission to decrease pain

  • Muscle Relaxant

    • Reduces muscle spasms and promotes healing by slowing nerve activity

  • Anti-Inflammatory

    • Reduces the temperature and metabolic rate of wounded tissue to cause vasoconstriction leading to decreased blood flow and reducing edema
